FAIRTRADE
Callington

George Alagiah with Committee members

The citizens of Callington are responding generously to the campaign to help Callington achieve "Fairtrade Town" status. One practical way they provide help for poor farmers in developing countries is by buying Fairtrade products from their local stores and restaurants.

The campaign had an added boost in July when BBC News presenter George Alagiah, visited their stall at St. Mary's Church Summer Fair.

Here are some of their ways of supporting this initiative:

  • The Cooperative supermarket is a major supporter of Fairtrade and sells many of their products
  • The widest range of Fairtrade products is at Cornerstone, Fore St.
  • The Town Council unanimously agreed to support Callington's bid for Fairtrade Town status and resolved to serve Fairtrade drinks at their meetings and functions
  • Local churches serve Fairtrade refreshments at their functions
  • Local businesses serve Fairtrade coffee and tea to their staff

A local Fairtrade Committee was formed in Callington in October 2006 to help promote Fairtrade in our town. We actively encourage your support. Feel free to contact Jane Murray by using the Contact tab above.
